About the Montford Area Historic District
The Montford Area Historic District is a residential area slightly northwest of Downtown Asheville. It features historic homes reflecting the turn of the 20th century in several styles including Arts and Crafts, Colonial Revival, Queen Ann, and Victorian. Montford is a walkable neighborhood with several restaurants, cafes, bars, and breweries. Some of our personal favorites are The Montford Rooftop Bar with great food and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, Nine Mile https://ninemileasheville.com/, a casual Caribbean restaurant, and Archetype Brewing https://archetypebrewing.com/, which has a beautiful lounge as well as creative and delicious beers on tap.
While a large portion of the area is a National Register Historic District, there are several newly built, modern houses among the historic homes. Available options are modern builds, newly renovated historic homes, or one that needs some restoration. Plots of land are also available, often somewhat private with wooded areas.
